Ingredients:

  • 2 cup Puffed Rice (Murmura) – This is the foundation of Bhel Puri!
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/2 Cucumber, peeled, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1-2 Green Chilies, slit lengthwise (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Chaat Masala – This is key for the signature Bhel Puri flavor!
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice – Freshly squeezed is best.
  • 2 tbsp Sev (Thin Crispy Noodles) – Adds a delightful crunch.
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  • 1 tbsp Coriander/Mint Chutney
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind Chutney

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Vegetables: Finely chop the onion, tomato, and cucumber as directed in the ingredients list. Make sure everything is finely chopped for a good texture.

  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the puffed rice, chopped onion, tomato, cucumber, and green chilies.

  3. Add remaining Ingredients: Add chaat masala, lemon juice, peanuts, sev, coriander/mint chutney and tamarind chutney. Gently mix everything together until well combined.

  4. Serve Immediately: Serve Bhel Puri immediately while it’s still crunchy.

Tips & Variations:

  • Puffed Rice Quality: Use fresh puffed rice for the best texture. Older puffed rice can become stale.
  • Sev Variety: You can use different types of sev – thin, thick, or even spiral sev.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the number of green chilies to your preference.
